Expressing the Energy of the Cityscape
Mimicking the sun setting over Los Angeles, the City View Retail Center symbolizes the skyline and celebrates the energy that is ignited at night fall. City View is located at the center of LA on West Third Street. A high water table and methane layer made subterranean-placed parking a very costly option. The solution was to create two levels of parking above the storefront retail. The architects embraced this design with an architectural statement.
Poured concrete makes up most of the structure, accented by a sculptural facade detail. Sheer perforated metal panels are framed in bright orange and lit with blue LEDs to emulate the colors of a sunset. Their geometric shapes and linear layout are akin to the cityscape horizon.
