Cutting-Edge Care, Patient-First Comfort
The Cedars-Sinai Marina Towers Breast Imaging Center exemplifies the intersection of healthcare and design, where patient comfort and technological efficiency converge. This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to how thoughtful design and advanced technology can enhance the patient experience while overcoming significant challenges.
As part of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s ongoing initiative to provide convenient access to world-class, patient-centered services, the center is strategically located in the Marina Towers facility in Marina del Rey. This expansion of the Marina Imaging Clinic particularly focuses on meeting the needs of the millennial healthcare consumer through the integration of advanced technology, innovative clinic models, and cutting-edge design trends.
The center transforms the clinical experience into one of tranquility and comfort by prioritizing a spa-like atmosphere. Custom wall coverings, reminiscent of luxury spas, are complemented by a soothing color palette and soft lighting that fosters a serene environment. The layout is carefully designed to enhance privacy and flow, further easing patient anxiety. These elements, combined with the inclusion of natural materials and textures, create a welcoming and calming space that redefines the typical healthcare environment.
Technological innovation and collaboration were pivotal in the successful execution of this project. The integration of dual providers within the center necessitated meticulous planning, utilizing advanced technology to optimize both space and operational flow. Early visualization of design elements through virtual design tools ensured the precise application of custom finishes, contributing to the overall coherence and functionality of the space.
The project’s comprehensive scope involved collaboration across multiple disciplines, including architectural and interior design, mechanical and electrical engineering, and medical equipment planning. Each phase of the design process—from schematic design through design development and construction documentation—was marked by close coordination with Cedars-Sinai’s various departments and consultants. The project’s success is a testament to the team’s ability to integrate complex requirements into a cohesive, patient-focused design.
One notable challenge was the uneven concrete slab in the reception area, which posed a significant obstacle to achieving ADA compliance. The team, including TIS Construction, demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship by executing precise modifications within a tight timeframe, ensuring that both the project schedule and quality standards were upheld. This level of precision and collaborative problem-solving underscores the project’s commitment to efficiency and excellence in design execution.
