Designed to make use of its marvelous hillside view, this single-family home creates breathtaking tableaus both inside and outside the residence. The home is located on a top tier lot in the coveted neighborhood of Beverly Hills. A major challenge was to design the clients dream home with the confines of the existing lot.
The main living area of the home is elevated on a large cantilever, designed as a practical solution to capitalize on the residence’s spectacular view. The raised elevation of the modern design provides the perfect height to create a triptych of the surrounding Ocean, Century City, and Downtown Los Angeles landscapes. This arrangement additionally creates a covered outdoor patio space underneath that takes advantage of California’s warm and inviting climate.
Beveled walls connected to windows and floor-to-ceiling glass create a literal framing device for the portaitesque views of this hillside home. Sensor-activated screens and carefully placed vertical structures protect homeowner’s privacy while keeping the interior of the space cool without sacrificing visibility of the view.
A central elevator connects the three floors from the spacious multi-car garage to the upper floor. The home is carefully divided between communal and private spaces. The west side of the residence includes guest rooms on the ground floor and the primary bedroom, bath, and dressing room on the upper floor. The east side incoporates a subterranean entertainment space housing a wine and gaming room connected to a home theater.
