Technology-enabled Learning

As part of our ongoing work in education design, we partnered with Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School to reimagine their Learning Hub—a flexible, K–8 teaching environment that reflects the school’s commitment to collaboration, critical thinking, and empathy.
Our architectural approach focused on blending function with inspiration, using thoughtful space planning to support up to 20 students in a variety of learning styles. The result is a dynamic, adaptable hub that reinforces the school’s progressive educational model through design.
We designed flexible zones for quiet study, small group engagement, and interactive teaching, using modular furnishings and integrated digital tools. Spatial adjacencies—like the seamless connection to the Butterfly Courtyard and breezeway—promote indoor-outdoor learning and community-building. This holistic spatial strategy encourages creative exploration while enhancing everyday functionality.

Our team understands that learning happens everywhere—so we layered in elements like reading nooks, media lounges, and wellness rooms to support different cognitive and emotional needs. These design interventions are grounded in educational research and tailored to the developmental rhythms of K–8 learners. By embedding flexibility and choice into the layout, we enable teachers to adapt the space throughout the day.

For schools like Heschel, where academic rigor is matched by a commitment to empathy and action, architecture must do more than accommodate—it must inspire. Our design elevates this mission, transforming the Learning Hub into a responsive environment that supports meaningful inquiry, connection, and growth. This project exemplifies how we design educational spaces that are as thoughtful and forward-looking as the schools they serve.
