Tony Amato, AIA
“The greatest architectural result is achieved through collaboration, blending the knowledge and expertise from each individual discipline into a unique and holistic design.”
Tony’s interest in architecture is rooted in his love of art. From an early age, he enjoyed sketching and drawing. He was especially fascinated by technology and transportation and would spend countless hours drawing airplanes, trains, and automobiles. Encouraged by his parents, Tony enrolled himself into many art classes in high school. During his junior year, he found himself at a guest lecture that was conducted by an architect. Tony was immediately drawn to the architectural craft and was particularly interested in the idea of combining his love for art, engineering, and technology into a single profession. He believes the greatest architectural result is achieved through collaboration, blending the knowledge and expertise from each individual discipline into a unique and holistic design. At the start of his career, Tony worked at Anshen + Allen Architects in San Francisco for five years. In this role, he contributed to the design and construction of the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, serving as a project architect for the site’s central utility plant. Tony then went on to work for Smith Group JJR in Los Angeles on various projects including a campus master plan, a university research and data center, and multiple commercial office buildings. He joined Abramson Architects in 2015, where he now works as a Project Architect. Some of his most notable projects at AA are a high rise hotel in downtown Los Angeles and 90,000 square foot retail and creative office building in Culver City.
